Why P3 matters more than it looks
P3 Science is rarely examined heavily, which is exactly why it gets treated as the easy year. It is the only year a child can learn to write a proper explanation without a mark riding on it. Pupils who start here arrive at P4 already able to do the thing P4 suddenly demands.
What we cover
The P3 MOE Science syllabus, taught so the explaining habit is built in from the first lesson.
Diversity of living and non-living things
Sorting and classifying what counts as alive, and the groups they fall into.
Diversity of materials
Properties like flexibility, strength and whether something floats or sinks — and why we choose them.
Life cycles
How plants and animals grow and reproduce, from seed to plant and egg to adult.
Magnets
Magnetic and non-magnetic materials, poles, attraction and repulsion.
